A Word About Fountains in Waiting Rooms
Posted under fountains, interior designI was in the waiting room at my dentist’s office today, dreading my appointment, when I noticed (not that it was hard) this really large and somewhat intimidating wall fountain. I looked at it for a while. It sounded pretty cool… I closed my eyes and tried to relax. It actually helped a little; the sounds of the fountain helped calm my nerves.

But when I opened my eyes, I still saw this big and formidable looking fountain. It’s very robust with its blackened copper trim and its dark, powerful-looking slate face, with that sinister brown scar cutting across. Needless to say, while I was in awe of this fountain, it didn’t do a whole lot to calm my nerves. It certainly didn’t seem like a good idea in a dentist’s waiting room.
After my appointment, I left the office and walked next door. I happened to peer into the office, which was apparently a massage therapy parlor, and I saw this wall fountain, which I just had to take a picture of. Quite the stark contrast to the fountain next door:

Now, imagine if this serene, welcoming, and soft little wall fountain had been installed in the dentist’s office. Now, that would have been comforting! I am considering writing my dentist a letter on how to properly decorate a waiting room.
