Beds Affordable In Today’s Economy

Posted under bedroom furniture

When people purchase modern bedroom furniture, they usually start looking at the price or physical appearance. But to make a truly reasonable choice, you have to think about all the aspects. These includes specifics like bed size, building materials and how comfortable the bed feels. Does this mean you should skip over common cheap furniture completely, such as veneer beds? Not quite.

Most modern platform beds that you will see nowadays are actually veneer beds. These beds are made from particle board or plywood, and then covered by a veneer of higher quality wood. Some people are annoyed with veneer beds, with the perception being that they are too banal. There’s also the perception that they aren’t as tough than natural wood, but they do have their advantages.

For one, the building of modern platform beds with veneers is more ecologically sustainable. Not only are the building materials easier to reuse, the methods of production themselves have a smaller carbon footprint. Veneer beds reuse sawdust to produce particle board. As a result, less hardwood are required to make these beds, and less trees are needed.

Another point to consider is that veneer beds are actually very tough, thanks to innovations in modern bedroom furniture technology. The veneer itself has been shrunk to the thickness of a small film, which retains the properties of hardwood anyway. And unlike hardwood, particle board doesn’t warp unless it absorbs moisture.

A lot of new modern bedroom furniture is promoted as having both solid hardwood and veneer. This solid hardwood isn’t the same as real wood, but artificially produced particle board, that still preserve the essential qualities of natural wood. This may seem to be a misrepresentation of the product, but in fact most consumers stand to benefit from using particle board anyway.

When you look for a contemporary bed for personal use, you should start by assessing your needs. Then, find out more about the beds that are available to you, how they are made, and the positives and negatives of each bed. After that you can properly assess if you need beds completely made of natural wood, or if veneer beds are all you need.

Some people are unhappy with veneer beds, but they do have their good points. For one, the production of modern platform beds with veneers is more ecologically sustainable. They are also very durable, thanks to advances in modern bedroom furniture technology. And unlike hardwood, particle board doesn’t warp unless it absorbs moisture. When you look for a contemporary bed for personal use, you should assess your needs, get educated on what’s available then decide.
