Care of Wood Bath Vanities

Posted under bathroom

Generally when it comes to wood products the concern is the wood drying out and warping, but that is not what will happen in a humid bathroom.  The concern in the bathroom is that the wood will soak up the humidity and expand.  In order to reduce the effect your wood vanity should be treated with a finish and you should ensure your bathroom is properly ventilated.

Before you use any cleaner on the vanity you should always spot check it to test for damage.  Always be sure to dry off the vanity after cleaning and if any liquid is spilled on it.  To clean spills you should blot at the stain and not rub it.  Be sure to clean up water spots as soon as possible to avoid a stain. If the vanity is not urethane finished, you can wax it to help give it a shine and make cleaning spills easier.  With a urethane finish, waxing is not needed.
